The theme for this year’s Adventurer’s Family Camp was Never too late to…. Grow, Give, Go.

380 adventurers and their families filled Mt. Aetna Camp in Hagerstown, MD to the point of overflowing for the annual Adventurer Family Weekend on May 29-31. Sunny skies and an accommodating cafeteria staff added to the success of the weekend. Youth Ministries Assistant, Ann Reynolds, reports the guest speaker, Steve Hernandez had the children on the edge of their seats listening intently to his animated story of “Sneaky and Red” (Jacob and Esau). The Westminster Bobcats arrived at Mt. Aetna Camp on Friday evening and registered and settled in their cabin. Ms. Debbie, Mrs. Elizabeth, and Cameron were in cabin 1. The rest of our Adventurers came on Sabbath and Sunday – Edera & Astrid, Matthew & Kenny P., Ian, and Breanna.

On Sabbath morning everyone was up and at breakfast by 8a. The food is always good there! Sabbath School was a little different than usual. All the clubs were separated into three groups and rotated between three different locations: the cafeteria, the amphitheater, and the Cedar Lodge. The church service was at the HVA gym.

On Sabbath afternoon there were two sessions of Awards: Sign Language, Country Fun, Guide, Disciples, First Aide Helper, and a Fun Hike. Ms. Debbie taught Trees. For the Eager Beavers the Chips were: Animal Home, Scavenger Hunt, and God’s World.

Sunday is the day the Adventurers looked forward to, a fun day with all kinds of activities, including Canoeing, Archery, Horse rides, Water Blasters, Go-Karts (for adults only), Paintball, and a Hayride.

The weekend ended with lunch in the HVA gym. In previous years this usually been a sack lunch. This year they provided veggie hot dogs, baked beans, chips, drink and ice cream. MMMMM…
