It was family time for the residents of the Safehaven Shelter as GROW Mission provided the annual Christmas Dinner. Praise God, the Pastor, his wife, Jan and daughter, Tybee was there and provided us with lovely music, Jingle Bells being the shelter residents favorite. Carl and Wendy McNeave and Robbie and Rachel were there to assist. Carl and Wendy can be seen in the Friday December 26, 2008 edition of the Carroll County Times page 2, along with Scott Wilson, Martha Harris, Nancy Thomas and her mother. Penny Wilson and her children Domonique and Hakeem were there, along with Penny's mom, dad, and sister. Michele Sipes and her son, Cory; Elizabeth, Scott, Cameron, Lindsay, and Mandy Wilson; Wayne Short, his son, Garrett; Gretchen and her husband Steve, their children Levi and Mercedes, and Darcel and Martha Harris and Martha’s boyfriend Lewis Brow were carrying on the practice of Christmas at the shelter as well.
Others who have made the Christmas Dinner a tradition were Sunah Lee, Debbie Stroup, Betty McNeave, Kathy Riley, Debbie Redecker, Darryl Williams, and Mike Stirn. We showered over 35 people with food, gifts, prayer, counsel, listening ears, and love this Christmas. One resident was so moved; he had us sing the 12 days of Christmas in a round. None of this could have happened without the generosity of WSDA members in time, money, prayers, and yearly commitment. Thank you from all of us in the GROW Mission team. Darcel Harris
