Could It Be “Chicken Little’s Squawk Is Right?

“The Lord has shown me clearly that the image of the beast will be formed before probation closes; for it is to be the great test for the people of God, by which their eternal destiny will be decided. . .”  Vol. 7 EGW Comments to the Adventist Bible Commentary p 976

“Political corruption is destroying love of justice and regard for truth; and even in free America, rulers and legislators, in order to secure public favor, will yield to the popular demand for a law enforcing Sunday observance.”  Great Controversy p 592

It is not usual that I would begin an article with a string of quotes, especially from Ellen G White!  Yet when I look at the anti-Ellen G White websites, I have to write this article.

Where do you stand on the matter of the Seventh-day Adventist prophetess?  Has she become inspiration, but no longer authoritative? Or maybe you have never really taken the time to read her writings in a broad comprehensive way?

Consider that right at this moment the European Parliament is debating the “Working Times Directive.”  This will outlaw working more than 48 hours a week.  Seven members of the body placed an amendment that the remainder of the week must include Sunday as a day of rest.  The Commission of European Bishops said, “Sunday is a cornerstone of the European social model and an issue of central importance for workers and their families.”  Pope Benedict 16th said September 9 2008, “Without Sunday we cannot live! It is a necessity for all peoples.”

As 2008 draws to a halt, without sounding alarmist or reactionary, I would joyfully and thankfully call us all to make our calling and election sure!  What Ellen G White has to say on these subjects is too compelling to ignore any longer!  Have a Safe Holiday Season!
