This month Crest Lane started a new after school club; it is the Crest Lane Cookie Club. The students and I met together to make a batch of delicious cookies. The students in the lower and upper grades worked together as a team, taking turns adding the ingredients, mixing, and rolling out the cookies. The first recipe we tried was the Nestle Tollhouse Cookie. How can you possibly go wrong with a chocolate chip cookie? The students all nibbled some of the dough before baking and then we tried samples fresh out of the oven. Our new club is not just a fun social event, which it is, but a service activity as well; we want to share our baking talents with others. This month we decided to welcome the Wilson family into their new apartment. The students made two house warming cards and delivered a plate of fresh cookies to the school's newest neighbors. Each student also brought home a baggie of cookies of their own. The club was such a hit with the students they asked if we could please do it again before next month’s scheduled meeting.
