If you happened to be in the area of the Westminster SDA Church September 11, 2010, you would have seen many  dressed in red, white and blue, sporting colorful, patriotic bulletin and a ribbon with flags pinned to your jacket or dress.  After a lineup of various uniformed honorary participants all led by Corey Tyler, ROTC, the audience was led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Domonique Wilson then sang a beautiful a cappella version of “The Star Spangled Banner” after which Cheryl Smith warmly welcomed the overflowing crowd to WSDA church.  Together Cheryl and Congressman Roscoe Bartlett gave the Opening Prayer.  Gretchen Malcolm called for the Tithes and Offering after which Mrs. Becky gave her usual enthralling Children’s story.

Special Music was given by Mark Sorenson backed up by his wife, Beverly, and the Johnson-Greene Family Quartet on a Gaither arrangement of “I Pledge Allegiance.”  Doris Bowen read the Scripture. Diane Trickett, Women’s Ministry Coordinator and organizer for this special Sabbath, introduced the special speaker for the day, Lt. Commander Anderson.

The service closed with “America the Beautiful” which was printed on beautiful red, white and blue, flag background stationary.  As everyone left to eat and socialize in the Fellowship Hall with the guests, a deep sense of patriotism and gratefulness for safety and the people who provide it.
