We are closing in on the last month of school and it has been a busy time. We visited Carroll Lutheran Nursing Home again, and students will be interviewing residents this month. The purpose: students will get to know a resident by name and learn a little bit about their past. We are looking forward to our annual cookout/picnic with them in May.
For Earth Day, April 22nd, the lower graders planted vegetables and flowers in pots which they hope to replant at their own homes later. The upper graders worked on the bird honor, needing to learn the calls of five different birds. They will also need to either keep a journal of all the birds they see while watching a bird feeder for a week or observe a bird nest for five days. There are so many wonderful lessons we can learn about God from the birds. He cares about each small feathered creature; how much more He cares for us.
May is filled with plans and activities. Our open house is on May 23 as we join forces with the church Health Fair. The school will provide interactive ongoing activities for all ages and we invite everyone from 1-3pm. We will also be offering an early registration discount of $50.00 during the open house. The school will also hold the closing program that Sunday right after the open house from 3-4pm. The big surprise will finally be revealed then. What big surprise? Identity of the secret pal! Students have been guessing, inferring, predicting, surmising, and speculating who their secret pal could be. I just want to thank again all the loyal secret pals who have been so faithful through this school year keeping in contact. The students have really enjoyed it and it has been a real mystery. If you would like to see the big reveal, make sure that you are at the school Sunday, May 23.
