The theme for HisSpace this month was “Families.” Young and older members of our church family came to worship and praise God together. And praise Him we did as we started the service off with the Praise Team leading out in worship songs. The kids took part in a Bible activity where they got to play Bible hangman on an internet game.
Once again we were blessed with Mr. Mike’s drama team. They told a story about the first family on this earth and the conflicts that can arise when we are not doing God’s will. We need to love and help our brothers and sisters, not do harm to those in our family or in the family of God.
Samantha Young brought the sermon, discussing all different kinds of families. Some are more traditional with mom, dad and kids. Others might include grandparents or maybe just have one parent. All families are different but we are all part of God’s family. Luke 15 tells us the story of the Prodigal Son. Even though the son ran off and spent his father’s money, when he came home again the father rejoiced and held a great party. God loves each of us the same way. We might run away from Him and get ourselves into trouble but if we decide to come back He rejoices and welcomes us back into his family. God loves us all and wants us to share that love with others-unconditionally.
