Pathfinder’s Sabbath, February 20, started with the Pathfinders walking onto the platform and Mike Durant introducing himself as the Pathfinder director and apologizing for not marching in as they normally do. But, with 3 weeks of no meetings because of the snow, they had to do something different.

After the Opening Song, Pathfinders then said their Pledge and Law, and Mike had Opening Prayer. Abby Smuda had the Offering and Offertory Prayer while David Wong, Cory Sipes, Robbie & Rachel McNeave were the Deacons who took up the offering. Mandi Wilson told the Children's story. She did an illustration about prejudice - showing favoritism of one thing over another. She used the example of having candy but not enough for everyone.  Of course in the end every child up front got a piece.

Matthew Spielman read the Scripture for the morning while the rest of the pathfinders were in the steps room (behind the organ) preparing for a skit, in lieu of Special Music. They saw the skit presented at Oshkosh last fall by Willowbrook Pathfinders. It was about Christ's love for his Church.

Cristal Marie Smith (Tyler) had the sermon "Birthright to Heaven."  She spoke of temptations and compromises and how we often yield to them instead of being a Daniel. Some of her examples were Adam & Eve and Jacob & Esau. She ended with a challenge for all of us to take a stand for Jesus. She closed with a PowerPoint presentation of the song: “Soon.”
