News & Announcements

December was a busy month for Crest Lane students as they prepared for their play and special music. The Christmas play "Behind the Pageant" was given December 12 in Westminster and Reisterstown and later at Carroll Lutheran Nursing Home. Every student had a part in it and hopefully gained a deeper insight into the true meaning of Christmas, just as the play portrayed. The upper grades got to put a new twist on an older idea. They used lighted dowel rods to show movement and light for the song "Joy, Joy." It was very dramatic and the students like using dowel rods. The lower grades also sang several selections of music and looked adorable while doing it. The chimes were brought out and put to use for the song "O Holy Night."

This month was filled with holiday secrets as well. Upper grades made snowflake ornaments for their parents and candy cane ornaments for their secret pals. They served on committees that were in change of decorations, food, and games for their Christmas party. They also decided to do a name exchange for a gift exchange. I also challenged my class to turn in $40 for the mission project during the month and I would provide an ice cream cake for all their hard work. They met and exceeded the goal and enjoyed an ice cream cake from Hoffman’s, which they shared with Ms Nancy and Ms Debbie. December brought a close to our fund raising for Maluti and a total of $681 was raised in all. We couldn't have done it without your help as well.

In the lower grades classroom they made pencil holders for their parents and were busy with cards and letters for their secret pals. They also made holiday wreaths out of the outline of their hands. Students also enjoyed a present exchange and goodies they brought in for their party. It was an exciting time of the year for everyone and all were looking forward to the upcoming Christmas break!
